National Trail Raceway

There was a new class this year at National Trail Raceway and the JEGS ET Series, the Jr. Street class, it was designed for 13- to 16-year-old kids to race a street legal vehicle with an adult passenger as their co-pilot.  There were a lot of good racers this season in the Jr. Street class competing all season long for the championship and after the final race it was Carlynn Brokaw taking home her first National Trail Raceway Track Championship.

Carlynn didn’t plan on racing the Jr. Street class but when asked if she wanted race the class, she jumped at the opportunity.  She chose long time racer and family friend Camron Kardules as her co-pilot and her racing instructor.  Carlynn missed the 1st race of the season meaning she was going to have to play catchup the rest of the season and she was able to do just that with a couple of 1st round losses and a runner-up finish she was sitting in 3rd place in the points.  Then she cranked out 2 wins in a row at the end of July and August to take the points lead.  She capped off her first season in Jr. Street with a 2nd round loss on the final points day, but the championship was already hers after her 1st round win.

“I had a lot of fun this season, being able to race in the Jr. Street is so much fun and having a great co-pilot like Camron makes it even better.  It took a lot of determination, hard work and willingness to learn throughout the season to win this championship,” said a smiling Brokaw. “I want to thank my Dad (Jeff), my Mom (Amanda), Camron and Leslie Kardules for all their support this year and letting me do this. I also want to say a special thanks to my Grandpa Jeff for letting me use his car and my race car.”

Next season Carlynn will be back in the Jr. Street class, but she is working this winter on building a new car to compete in as she will be looking to defend her championship.

Congrats to Carlynn Brokaw the 2024 JEGS ET Series Jr. Street Champion!
