Submitted by jasonm on Wed, 10/30/2024 - 12:01 The Jr. Storm class is for the youngest racers in NHRA with kids aged 6 to 9 years old taking to the track. The class is the first steppingstone in the JEGS.com Jr. Dragster Series at National Trail Raceway. The 2024 season saw Andrew Dutton have one of the most successful seasons in the history of the class as he raced his way to the championship. Andrew’s path to the championship started with a trip to the Winner’s circle at the first event of the season. After that event it was a dominating performance all season long as Andrew made 7 more trips to the final round, taking home wins in 6 of them! Dutton was able to clinch the championship before the final race weekend. But Dutton’s success wasn’t only at National Trail Raceway, he was also able to get down to 16 cars at the NHRA Eastern Conference Finals in Bristol. But it was at the NHRA Division 3 Championship where he took home the Division Championship in the 6–9-Year-Old Class that was the highlight of his season. “This championship means so much to me, it shows all the hard work before the season started and the hard work during the season paid off. Being a champion means being respectful to my fellow competitors and giving the younger kids someone that they can look up,” said a very happy Andrew Dutton. “I want to thank my dad (Brandon) and my mom (Maggie) for all their support and encouragement during the season, without them I wouldn’t be where I am.” Next season Andrew is moving up to the Jr. Thunder class where he will get to race 8.90 and compete against a new group of racers. He looks to pick up where he left off and be as competitive as he can in his first year of Jr. Thunder. Congrats to Andrew Dutton the 2024 JEGS.com Jr. Dragster Series Jr. Storm Champion!
