The Jr. Thunder class that races in the JEGS.com Jr. Dragster Racing Series saw a repeat champion for the 2022 season with Frank Tanzillo taking home his second Jr. Thunder championship in a row.  Tanzillo and his crew came into the season with goals of winning rounds and trophies, and they did just that with their JEGS electric Jr. Dragster.

Tanzillo started the year off with a final round appearance at the opening points race but Memorial Day weekend was the worst weekend of racing for Frank all season, with him only earning 30 points during the 2 days of racing.  In June Frank and the team turned it around and went on a tear, with a runner-up and a win putting him in the points lead.  Tanzillo never looked back from there, taking home two more wins and a runner-up during the season.  Tanzillo had such a lead in the points standings that he was able to race in Jr. Lightning on the final race of the season.

“I want to thank JEGS for giving me a chance this year to defend my championship in their electric car and a special thanks to Dave and Michael Ruark for the opportunity,” said a smiling Tanzillo. “I want to say thank you to my family for all their support, Mark (Dad), Hollie (Mom), Logan Cook (brother), Maddox (brother), Karson (brother), Brook (sister) and baby Danielle (sister). I also want to thank our racing crew Brett, Brad and Tony Tanzillo, Kaylee Phillips, the Dutton Racing Family and of course my Crew Chiefs Michael Ruark and Clay Brown for all their help!”

Next season Frank hopes to be racing the JEGS electric car in the Jr. Lightning class as he moves into the most competitive class in the JEGS.com Jr. Dragster Racing Series for 2023.

Congrats to Frank Tanzillo the 2022 JEGS.com Jr. Dragster Racing Series Jr. Thunder Champion!
