When it comes to the JEGS ET Series Sportsman class, Doug Thompson is always right there in the hunt for the championship. Doug came into the 2019 season as the defending champion in Pro and finished #2 in Sportsman in 2018. His ’00 Trans Am delivered all year long as he clinched the 2019 Sportsman championship.
The season started out well for Thompson as he won the May 19th event to take the points lead. He then continued to dominate the Sportsman class throughout the summer with 4 more final round appearances where he collected 2 more wins and 2 runner-up finishes. Thompson won the Sportsman championship by 90 points over 2nd place finisher Dana Thompson.
“This year was a success for me. Winning the championship despite the transmission and electrical problems that I encountered during the season really means a lot,” said Thompson.
Thompson who turned 70 back in November is looking forward to next season and getting back to the track and competing for another championship.
Congrats to Doug Thompson the 2019 JEGS Performance ET Series Sportsman champion.
