2019 Street Motorcycle Champion

The JEGS ET Series Street Motorcycle class always seems to be a neck and neck race for the Championship.  This season, that battle for supremacy was no different.  It was a hard-fought fight all the way to the final event of the 2019 JEGS ET Series season.  At the end of that weekend, it was Garreth Sheppeard taking home his second Street Motorcycle Championship in a row.

Garreth experienced the usual ups and downs of drag racing throughout the 2019 JEGS ET Series Season.  He had some early round losses mixed in with wins and runner-up finishes.  Garreth came into the final points weekend with the Championship in his sights and on the next to last points day, August 24th, he parked his ’02 Suzuki in the Winner’s Circle.  That win put him 17 points ahead of #2 in points his dad, Scott Sheppeard.

On that Sunday, it came down to Garreth vs Scott in the first round of eliminations with the championship on the line.  Garreth had the advantage off the line with .010 to Scott’s .062 and that propelled him to the round win and the 2019 Street Motorcycle Championship.

“Without the support of my great sponsors, Shellhaas Family racing, Dustin Lee with Hard Times Parts and Service and JEGS this championship wouldn’t be possible.  I also have to say thank you both my Mom, Melinda, and my Dad, Scott.  Without their love and support I wouldn’t be able to do what I love,” said Garreth.

Garreth has his sights set on the ultimate prize in bracket racing, he wants to win the NHRA Division 3 ET Finals and book himself a trip to Pomona to compete for the World Championship.

Congrats to Garreth Sheppeard the 2019 JEGS ET Series Street Motorcycle Champion.
