08 Feh 2019 Hebron, OH – Maddox Tanzillo had a season in the JEGS.com Jr. Dragster 2 class that he will remember the rest of his life. Maddox and his team started the season off with the best start possible, a win on the very first event of the year. The rest of the season would feel like a roller coaster ride as Maddox had some early round losses mixed in with final round appearances as the young driver experienced the ups and downs of drag racing.
Going into the final points weekend, Maddox was sitting 3rd in points. Maddox lost in the final of the Saturday event to #1 in points, Ryan Hoberg, moving him up to #2 in standings. The Sunday event was filled with drama, Hoberg lost in the 2nd round giving Maddox and his team a chance at the championship. Maddox took the advantage and won the event to clinch his very first National Trail Raceway Track Championship. It also meant that Maddox had been to 5 finals out of 10 and winning 3 of them.
This season Maddox went through the ups and downs of this great sport of drag racing and he is so thankful that he had the love and support of his Mom (Hollie), Dad, (Mark), Brothers (Logan Cook, Frank & Karson Tanzillo), his sister (Brooklyn). His cousins Brett and Brad Tanzillo, Grandma Rita, Clay Brown and the Altenbach family.
“This championship means a lot to me and my family. We fought hard all season through the ups and downs and to be able to win the championship on the final day of the season means that all that hard work paid off. Winning a championship means we were successful and achieved the goals we had for the season,” said Maddox.
Next season Maddox plans on competing for another track championship next season and stepping up to race in the JEGS Quick 330 class representing Lucas Oil in the Rowe Family car.
