28 Jan 2019 Hebron, OH – Doug Thompson has been a staple at National Trail Raceway for decades. Doug races his ’00 Trans Am in both Pro and Sportsman at the JEGS Performance ET Series. This year Doug took home another championship claiming the Pro bracket crown.
Doug had a few rough spots this season with a couple of early round exits in the beginning of the season. But Doug’s season turned around on May 27th when he raced to a victory. Doug scored a runner-up finish on August 25th and went to the semi-finals at the September 22nd event. When all the points were tallied Doug was 46 points ahead of second place in Pro.
“This year had its ups and downs, but I want to say thank to Pat McFadden for bringing his ’57 Chevy to the bracket finals so that I could race in both Sportsman and Pro in the Race of Champions,” said Thompson.
Winning is something that Doug Thompson knows a lot about as back in 1966 he won his first 4 races and he has been hooked ever since.
Jokingly Thompson stated, “My future racing goals include, racing as long as I’m competitive since I’m old. Next year I plan on changing the oil in the car getting back out to the track with all my friends.”
Congratulations to Doug Thompson the 2018 JEGS ET Series Pro Champion!
